InspirationDuring the 2008 International Climate Change Conference in Hollywood, California, I had the privilege to hear Shaun Monson (filmmaker of Earthlings), Eric Brent (founder of Happy Cow), Howard Lyman (author of The Mad Cowboy), Dr. Will Tuttle (author of The World Peace Diet), and other vegan pioneers speak their messages of love and truth. Their powerful words filled me with waves of positive energy and the inspiration to write a vegan children's book suddenly emerged. After years of trial and error, The Kind Garden was born. |

Meet The IllustratorSpecial thanks to the gifted, self-trained Canadian artist, Clare Ma, who as a high school senior, devoted her extra time and skills to complete this project of love. Hats off to her for a wonderful job conveying the innocent beauty, joy and simplicity of The Kind Garden. A vegetarian since birth and vegan since middle school, this is Clare's first illustrated book. |

“The Kind Garden - a little gem of a book for youngsters. With as much joy as Sesame Street, this bright and colorfully illustrated little rhyming story is surely meant to be sung along with. As happy as a summer's day, it conveys a simple message that very young children especially will take on board: "Animals love life" … So let them live it, and make the world like the Kind Garden.”

“The message of kindness is very straightforward yet subtle. Good for young kids to get engaged, interact and spark curiosity as to why hamburgers weren't served in The Kind Garden. The artwork is really beautiful. Thank you for your gift of creating this book of compassion, very much needed in this world.”
